What I Wore to Chicago Fashion Week

What I Wore to Chicago Fashion Week

Last month, I went to fashion week in Chicago for the first time.  As soon as I bought the tickets back in March, I started planning my outfits.  My main goal was to wear something I had made to each one of the events.  So here’s what pieces I wore, and how I styled them!

Day 0- Teal, Purple and Blue Skirt

For this outfit I was highlighting a skirt that I had thrifted in the past and altered to fit me better.  I paired it with a velvety blue button down, and rolled up the sleeves.  I wore my favorite black boots, and finished off with some jewelry.

My favorite detail: The necklace I wrapped around my ankle.

It is late afternoon and she is sitting in her car, wearing the same blue outfit.

Day 2- Sunflower Skirt

This outfit was built off of my sunflower skirt with built in straps I made back in high school.  Since I also had sunflower cowboy boots, I decided to lean towards the brown tones in the skirt rather than the green as I usually do.  I paired it with a light brown turtleneck, tan fishnet tights, and jewelry in brown and green.

My favorite detail:  My earrings!  They are green and gold dangly earrings that make a soft jingling sound when they move.

Day 3- Mushroom Shirt and Crochet Sleeves

This outfit was the most casual one of the week, highlighting a mushroom tank and brown crochet sleeves I made last year.  I paired it with jeans, a brown belt, and brown ankle boots.  I did some basic jewelry, and fun sparkly festival-esque makeup.

My favorite detail:  My earrings!  I wore red clay mushroom earrings made by my sister, and a pair made of real dried mushrooms coated in resin.

Day 5- Denim and Mesh Bralette

Dripping in badass bitch, this outfit was my favorite from the week.  I was highlighting the bralette- a piece which was purely experimental, but turned out to be a favorite of mine.  I of course paired it with my black boots, some ripped jeans, black fishnets, and a black mesh long sleeve top underneath.  Fun fact- this is the first time I ever wore pasties lol 😝

My favorite detail:  The beaded stars on my bralette!

Day 6- Denim Skirt

For the final day, I leaned towards something slightly dressier.  I chose a denim skirt I recently made from a pair of old jeans that were disintegrating.  I paired it with sneakers and a white top and socks, and dressed it up with a string of pearls, and updo, and a beige jacket.

My favorite detail:  The angles in the skirt!
